In the NBA’s postseason, only the “elite” survive. And that’s the theme being sounded by the Elite+ series of signature sneakers emerging during that time frame from Nike.
Released on April 20, 2013, were the signature sneakers for LeBron James and Kevin Durant, the LeBron X PS Elite+ and the KD V Elite EN+. Slated for a June 1 release is Kobe Bryant’s signature kick, the Kobe 8 Elite. All three stood to gain a Superhero colorway on April 27.
All three also are designed to deliver superior lockdown to the footbed. They feature strong yet flexible Flywire cables for precise lockdown and flexibility, carbon fiber features for strength, and the LeBron and KD feature Zoom Air for low-profile, responsive cushioning. The Kobe features a full-length Lunarlon dual-density foam midsole with a soft core embedded in a slightly firmer carrier to help the core retain its shape.
The carbon fiber on the LeBron X PS Elite+ comes in the form of midfoot wings to help stabilize the foot during sharp cuts. On the KD V Elite EN+, it comes in a heel counter to help stabilize the foot.
The LeBron’s Zoom Air goes full length for its cushioning, while the KD’s is caged into the heel.
Both James’ and Durant’s are Nike+ enabled to allow the wearer to capture movement and performance to help track your game.
Bryant’s postseason edition features a new Engineered Mesh weave and visible Dynamic Flywire on the upper that is designed to flex naturally with the foot. It even includes Kevlar-equipped lace tips.
