Durability and ventilation — two necessities for quality basketball shoes. Nike took these requirements and combined them in an innovative process that outperforms traditional footwear and incorporates a new sleek streamlined appearance that catches the eye and impresses the player.

Hyperfuse technology was Nike’s answer to the consumer’s needs. But limiting the layers of material on the upper posed the risk of lessening the structural stability of the shoe. Enter the Hyperfuse process of construction. Hyperfuse is a composite of three materials fused during a hotmelt process — a synthetic supportive base layer; a lightweight, breathable mesh layer; and a durable TPU- film layer. Once fused, these layers — individually not so durable — combine to create an extremely durable, lightweight and breathable material: the Nike Hyperfuse!

Hyperfuse-constructed uppers also feature zonal stability. Durable, supportive synthetic leather is placed in critical areas such as the midfoot and heel that need more stability. These areas of increased stability are also fused to the upper, so as to not compromise the unique uni-body construction. This allows the upper to maintain a seamless feel that provides an exceptional overall fit.

But the Hyperfuse upper is only half the shoe. Responsiveness is also a key element in creating the perfect basketball shoe. Nike’s Hyperfuse features much-loved, low-profile Zoom cushioning. Nike Zoom cushioning is the ultimate in low-profile impact protection and resilient responsive cushioning. Offering enhanced stability by reacting to impact forces from the ground up, increasing your awareness of the surface you are actually playing on. The tensile fibers that make up the Zoom cushioning unit release tension upon impact and quickly return to their original state as the foot lifts off, providing an instant high energy return — the highest energy return of all Nike Air units.
