Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway rose to sneaker prominence in 1995, when Michael Jordan was still making his way back from an abrupt mid-career retirement.
Hardaway rocked his own series of signature sneakers, which earned four installments from 1995 through the late '90s. But Nike hadn't discarded Penny, releasing the Air Penny V in October 2012 and went on to schedule releases for three special colorways of the Air Penny V.
The Highlighter (Volt/Black/White), Camo (Black Spruce/Black/Volt), and Li'l Penny (Atomic Red/Black/White) all slated for release on Sept. 20.
The Air Penny V carries the graceful, wavy aesthetic lines made famous in the Penny line, including a lateral (outside) support at the midfoot and heel. It all sits atop a speckled midsole, which gives way to a camouflage-patterned midsole in the Camo colorway.
