Timberland drew inspiration for its Anti-Fatigue Technology from padded mats found on factory floors.

The Timberland 6” Premium Scuff Proof Boot featured Anti-Fatigue Technology, which was made specifically for people who spend a good portion of the day on their feet. It was designed to provide exceptional standing comfort, and long-wear durability.
In a promotional video, Brian Moore, VP of Men’s Footwear for Timberland said, “When people talk about comfort, what they really mean is first feel comfort. You buy a pair of shoes, you put them on, they feel great. The problem is that most shoes lose their cushioning the longer you wear them.”
Anti-Fatigue Technology used high-density ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) in the midsole, as well as a hollow cone structure.
“When you put your weight on (the cones) and compress it, and then release that weight, it actually returns energy back to your foot,” Moore said. “You then shift your body weight across to another cone.”
