Tinker Tailor
Developed by Tinker Hatfield in 1991, the Huarache was inspired by the water ski boot. Hatfield was particularly intrigued by the neoprene bootie used in water skis and the easy way that it conformed to all foot types and sizes. And so the general concept was born — without being fully realized quite yet. He put pen to paper, drawing booties before eventually arriving at a style that had a supportive and completely visible exoskeleton. Instead of crafting a shoe that was more boot-like and clunky, Hatfield managed to take a gentle cue from his initial idea and transform it into something wearable, comfortable, and stylish.
A Little Lift
With its striking silhouette, the Huarache has a distinctive look of something that’s providing you with all the lift in the world. You’re not just wearing it — you’re celebrating it for all its worth, from its heavy-duty bootie and heel clip to its eye-catching midsole. The shoes are designed with neoprene fabric to enhance durability, flexibility, and comfort, along with a Phylon foam midsole that provides cushioned comfort with every step. Superior rubber waffle tread keeps you going even when you think you can’t take another step, jog another mile, or lift another load.
Run It
As a running shoe, the Nike Air Huarache ticks all the boxes. It’s built with high performance in mind, nestling the foot in consistent support and comfort while adding a flash of high style to the mix. You can wear them with anything from your favorite Nike joggers, sweats, shorts, or leggings to jeans and tees. The Huarache is just that versatile — and that means it’s not just limited to the track. Perfect for a little jog around the neighborhood or a quick burst on the court, it’s the ultimate performance shoe.
