Nike developed air cushioning technology back in the late ’70s. Nike air cushioning didn’t hit its stride until the drop of the Nike Air Max in 1987. Once consumers could see the effect that air cushioning was having in their every step, the sneaker game was changed forever. Ever since, new versions of the Air Max and its technology have been pouring into sneaker culture. It didn’t take long for Nike to expand into women’s sneaker culture with the introduction of new colorways, and ultimately, the Nike Air Max Thea. This sneaker quickly rose to become one of the most successful and long-lasting Air Max sneakers in the women’s market.
