Adolf Dassler began producing sports shoes in his mother’s house following the first World War. When his brother Rudolf joined him in 1924, Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory was born. The brothers helped in the development of various spiked shoe models, and eventually integrated more versatile materials like canvas and rubber into their designs, rather than the traditional metals. The company transitioned into the adidas brand we know today in 1949, after the duo parted ways, and has grown to become one of the largest sneaker and apparel companies in the industry.
