Run your errands in casual style when you choose a model like the adidas Originals Tubular Shadow, a shoe that offers a full-length EVA foam sole paired with a burrito-style tongue to hug your foot all day long. Looking for something a little more eye-catching? Try the adidas Originals Tubular Invader Strap, a high-rise style inspired by the basketball shoes of the ’80s with a large strap that goes over the top of your foot.
Inspired by History
To create the Tubular line, adidas drew inspiration from its collection of ’90s running shoes. However, this doesn’t mean the Tubular line is just a recreation of retro styles; rather, it’s a new take on the ideas of the past meshed with hints of the future.
Given its name because of the outsole that resembles the inside of a tire innertube, Tubular models feature two different densities of EVA foam cushioning to help you stay comfortable and cozy all day long. They also include a highly recognizable upper, which was a key point in the designer’s mind when crafting the shoes. The shoe’s designer, Nic Galway, noted that he crafted the shoe to resemble the Y-3 Qasa silhouette.
Released in 2014, the first Tubular style was the Runner, which quickly became streetwear iconic because of its popularity among many A-list stars. Since then, the brand has continued to grow, with several other styles and colorways available for purchase.
How to Wear
Styling your adidas Originals Tubular shoes is a breeze. Match them with some adidas sweats for that just-from-the-gym look, or add an adidas jacket to stay warm on cooler days. Because the shoes are so versatile, you can wear them whether you’re heading to the grocery store or out for a night on the town with your friends.
