Making it Reign
Even though Eric Avar spent three years working tirelessly on the concept of the Foamposite, the Nike designer faced constant pushback from people in the industry telling him it couldn’t be done. Today, wearing the Foamposite One or the Foamposite Pro is a way of telling the haters that yes, it can.
Most traditional basketball shoes of the era featured leather overlays and layers of color. And naturally, Nike’s branding was big and bold on nearly all its offerings. So when the “Foams” came on the scene, they were unlike any other basketball kicks that had come before.
The re-releases hold true to that OG spirit, featuring a synthetic shell designed to mold to your foot once it heats up. The idea was to give wearers a truly unique fit and feel, all in a strong, lightweight upper.
The Foamposite One is different, too, in that it features almost no Nike branding on the upper, except for a small Swoosh near the toe, so you can show off the upper shine all by itself.
The Foamposite Pro does include a Swoosh in its traditional midfoot location to let the world know you're rocking the iconic sneaker brand.
While Penny is most commonly associated with the Foams, the story goes that it wasn’t originally designed for him; rather, he saw the shoe in Avar’s sample bag during a visit and fell in love with it. Hardaway adopted the shoe and became nearly as famous for wearing it as he did for his on-court domination between 1993 and 2007.

Nike’s Little Posite series offers the throwback look and feel of the Foamposite One and Pro but in kids’ sizes.
The Little Posite One often features an all-black ankle collar and eyelets, plus a gum-rubber outsole that offers a fierce grip on any flooring your kiddo encounters. It also includes a carbon fiber midfoot shank designed to keep their feet stable with a high-performance look.
The Little Posite Pro features an all-black ankle collar and eyelets but also can include a translucent (“frosty”) outsole, so you know your kid will be a fashion icon on and off the court.
Uppers on both offer amazing visuals that will let your kid stand out, from camouflage to lightning bolts, to snakeskin, and more. So browse through Foot Locker to find the size and style that fits best on your little one.
