Boost debuted in 2013 and sits beneath the heel to serve up adidas’ most comfortable cushioning ever. Thousands of tiny energy-returning capsules are heat-fused for the softest ride you’ve had in an adidas shoe.

World of Inspiration

But designers didn’t do it without thinking of the bigger picture. With adidas running shoes and other athletic footwear having enjoyed such a strong legacy around the world, it only made sense to have that globe in the back of one’s mind when crafting the Supernova.

It's made with Primegreen, a series of high-performance recycled materials. Primegreen performance fabric contains no new (“virgin”) plastic. The upper consists of a minimum of 50% recycled content.

It’s all a big step in adidas’ 2018 pledge to use only recycled polyester for its shoes and apparel by 2024, to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2030, and to be carbon-neutral by 2050.

As the name could imply, the Supernova is not only an explosion of inspiration, but it’s also part of a complex process of large-scale reinvention.
