Score Icon Status With the Nike Dunk

The Nike Dunk made its debut in 1985 as a college basketball shoe. The original “Be True to Your School” colors helped players rep their teams, but the shoe was otherwise a flop. That is, until the skating community adopted it. The flat, grippy sole turned out to be ideal for board riding. It became so popular that Nike would eventually release a version specifically designed for skaters.
