In the two decades since their introduction, Crocs have attained a huge following of loyal fans. Conceived as a closed-cell foam boat shoe, the ultra-comfortable clog caught on quickly with healthcare workers, gardeners, celebrities, and people of all ages. Amid the rainbow of colors available, black Crocs are preferred by many for their understated appearance; in fact, black is the best-selling color in the Crocs line, particularly among men. Our selection includes all-black Crocs and models that add contrasting colors and patterns.
Presenting the fashion polar opposite of black Crocs, the popularity of white Crocs has been skyrocketing, owing in large part to their passing resemblance to a pair of white sneakers. White Crocs also provide the ideal neutral “canvas” to display your array of Jibbitz – those wildly popular charms that let you personalize your Crocs with items that interest or amuse you.
What Drives the Crocs’ Craze?
There’s an undoubtable love ‘em or hate ‘em phenomenon related to Crocs. One thing’s for sure: people who love them, really LOVE them! The most reported reason is comfort. They’re made with an EVA foam resin the company calls Croslite; the foam molds itself to the wearer’s foot anatomy and has been praised by podiatrists for its medical benefits. Offering better arch support than many other shoes or work boots, Crocs are preferred by many who spend much of their day on their feet.
While detractors have called them “ugly,” Crocs fans find them simply irresistible. For many, the clunky, holey clogs in bright colors are just fun, with a touch of bold attitude. Their affordability is also a big factor in the equation.
But Are They Fashionable?
The times, they are certainly a’changin’ – today you’ll find pics of super-models sporting their women's Crocs along with chic outfits, celebrities in Crocs on the red carpet, and influencers showing them off in their social media posts. Crocs have become unapologetically cool.
