adidas started out with their famous Three Stripes on shoes and apparel as a branding strategy, and at the time, the company earned a reputation as “The Three Stripe Company.” Aside from the stripes, their first official logo featured their famous running spike, but carried with it a vital component that we still see today: the current logo’s lettering, and of course, its stripes. The same lettering sits beneath the three stripes we now see on today’s mens’ performance lines.
adidas Originals, however, carries its own badge to represent adidas’ classics, otherwise known as the trefoil. This three-leafed logo may have debuted in 1972, but it couldn’t shake adidas’ iconic stripes. At the trefoil’s birth, adidas was making a larger push into streetwear, and in a way, not much has changed – the Trefoil logo spans much of the adidas Originals unique line of sweatpants, hoodies, and other apparel for men.
It’s Never Finished
More recently, adidas dropped a promotional video called, “Original is Never Finished,” to showcase the ever-evolving creativity that makes adidas Originals so original. The video features A$AP Ferg, Playboi Carti, Dua Lipa, and many more, to show the new wave of creators who choose adidas Originals and its iconic line of apparel.
Big names have been wearing adidas Originals apparel for decades, yet one key piece –the adidas Originals Superstar Track Top – made its way into the limelight more than most, helping to pave the way for athletic wear to hit the street decades ago. Today, this iconic tracksuit finds itself ingrained into pop-culture with its trefoil badge and three stripes running head to toe. At Foot Locker, you can find adidas Originals and all of its hottest shirts, tanks, hoodies, and sweatpants, along with the latest colorways for men available.
