First released in 1997, these were originally designed by Tinker Hatfield, one of the most important shoe designers of this generation. For this shoe, Hatfield was inspired by one of Jordan’s other nicknames, Black Cat, so these shoes are modeled after a panther. The outsole is actually inspired by a panther’s paw, and the top has a cat eye version of the famous Jumpman logo.
Additionally, these shoes come with Zoom Air cushions in the sole, along with a carbon fiber midfoot shank for ultimate support. For on-court support, the herringbone tread pattern provides exceptional grip.
Like so many Air Jordan shoes, these have been revamped with great colors, including new releases like Black Toe, Doernbecher, and Starfish, as well as a whole line of clothing to support them. Indeed, there’s an entire collection of men's Jordan Retro 13 shoes ready for you. What are you waiting for? Let’s get going!
All the Pieces Matter
What makes the Retro so good? It starts with the attention to detail in the design, such as the literal holographic cat eye, quilted finishes in the leather upper, and the small circular embroidery on the outside. It’s that attention to detail that made MJ the GOAT, so it’s fitting that his namesake shoes perform the same way. Of course, it’s all about the style too. It’s no wonder these shoes are beloved by collectors and sneakerheads alike. They have a substantial design, are made with premium materials, and are always available in fresh and special edition colorways.
Comfort is also key here. These shoes have a sleek, hidden speed-lacing setup. The padded collar gives off a plush feel, the Phylon midsole with heel and forefront Zoom Air units make them lightweight and responsive, and the herringbone traction pattern provides great grip no matter where you are. Make sure you check out our entire line of Jordan Retro 13 clothing, and don’t forget to outfit your little ones with kids' Jordan Retro shoes too.
