In 1993, MJ hit the hardwood in his Air Jordan VIIIs, designed by the incomparable Tinker Hatfield. Pressure was mounting for Chicago, after two championship wins, to clinch a coveted “three-peat” – at the time, only two professional teams could claim that achievement. Spoiler alert: They did it! The bold, strapped-in look of the AJ VIII became synonymous with Jordan’s unstoppable playing style during that season, and remains a symbolic summation of the first part of his professional career.

Check out other classic styles, beginning with the shoe that started it all; The Jordan Retro 1 burst onto the sneaker scene in 1985 and looks just as fresh today.
The AJ IV featured a distinct tech strap and mesh detailing and was the first to feature the Nike Air logo on the heel. Subsequent Retro 4 iterations enhance those features with color, texture, and allover patterns.
Proving that basketball shoes could also be elegant, Hatfield designed the AJ XII with a rising sun motif and gold accents. Jordan expands on this theme with Retro 12 styles that feature rich suede fabrics and both natural and jewel-toned hues.
