It’s an exciting time to step into running shoes. Designers and engineers have done amazing things with a simple template, most notably in the cushioning.
The Joyride Run Flyknit is the first Nike to feature the Swoosh’s proprietary new cushioning system. Debuting in August 2019, Joyride consists of thousands of tiny foam beads grouped into zones according to the amount of impact your feet absorb. Color combinations and a translucent window add a hit of color.
Another foam-based cushioning breakthrough is in the fused foam beads of the adidas Ultraboost. Since its debut in 2013, this cushioning has lent a noticeable texture to your midsoles while helping you navigate diverse conditions in a comfortable, durable, and flexible package.
While running shoes have covered a lot of technological ground, the overall concept hasn’t changed too much.
